Jona is one of those people who you give a seemingly impossible task, and he will not give up until he's cracked it, or himself! He has a passion for videography, photography and nature. He's the family gadget-man, photographer and musician, which is pretty handy! Jona does most of the filming and editing of our vlogs and cinematic videos, and has discovered a real love for the whole process.
Melissa loves writing and literature, she is passionate about words the power of language! She also loves all things a bit quirky or eccentric, and has a bit of a penchant for all things that have fallen out of fashion (quills, ink pots, leather journals, compasses!). She is rather shy, so give her 6 months to actually begin talking openly to you, but beware, she may then not stop!
A Little About Us:
We met way back in 2004 when we were just a couple of teenagers living on the little Isle of Wight. We instantly hit it off and never really grew apart. Fast forward to today, and we are married, own our own home in the South of England, and have two cats and a chameleon!
We've always enjoyed small road trips and weekends away around the country (UK), however, since treating ourselves to an 18 day road trip around the USA for our honeymoon in 2014, we have well and truly caught the travel bug!
Since then we have visited the following:USA - including San Francisco, LA, Yosemite, Lake Powell, Arches NP, Moab, Portland, Oregon Coast, Highway 101, Monterey, New York, Seattle, Olympic National Park, Mount Rainier NP, Florida
Italy - Lake Garda
France - Nice, Cannes, Monte Carlo
New Zealand - north and south island
Canada - Vancouver, Whistler, Jasper, Banff
And we hope to add a whole lot more to that list, including South Africa, Japan, Iceland, Mexico and East Canada
How the 'Mel and Jona' Blog was Born
Mel has been keeping blogs on and off since 2012, and started with a lifestyle blog. She wanted a little piece of the world wide web to call her own, and to use as a virtual diary to store her thoughts and memories. Following our game-changing honeymoon in 2014, we decided the following year (once we had well and truly caught the travel bug!), to set up a blog and an Instagram page to share our photos and stories of our travels with friends and family. Right up until 2017, Mel has been running two blogs simultaneously, until one day it struck her that people who read about our travels might also want to read about our lives and her ramblings! It was then that our new, exciting blog and brand was born. We will still focus mainly on travel, but a few little nuggets of wisdom from elsewhere may just pop into the blogosphere too.
